An earthly desire to work for the Lord
Accomplishments, marvelous and grand.
Teaching a class of boys was much
Too small a task for a worthy man
Some day, I'll do something great
Until then; I'll just drift along.
Though he was passing a church house door
He heard the words of a grand old song.
Slowly the Spirit of Jesus the Lord
Bringing to mind the matchless work
I am the vine, ye are the branches
The branch can not bear fruit of itself
Except it abide in the vine
No more can ye except ye abide in me.
Ye are the branch, I am the vine
Except ye abide in me, ye care not mine.
A dead branch, his guilty heart chided
Oh Lord forgive me of my sin
I'm only a twig with an aching heart
I've not been abiding in Thee.
Bless Thou my life each day Lord
And use me these lost souls to win
Help me, Oh Lord, to abide in Thee
Myself prepare my God to please
Lord make me a channel of thy light
To know Thou lovest even these.
