The blessing asked; God granted it
As by our breakfast board I sit.
I asked His blessing on my food
And thanked Him for His Love so good.
To happier days my mind did stray
To all those scenes of yesterday
When with great Joy around our board
We bowed our heads and thanked the Lord,
Who from my hearth have gone away
To build their lives what'eer it be.
Dear God, please keep them close to thee.
God give them health and strength each day
By willing toil to make their way
Teach them with Thankful hearts to call
On thee Dear Lord when comes nightfall
To ask Thy blessing on their own
Loved ones that make up their home
To thank Thee for their Daily Bread
That body, mind, and soul be fed.
I do not ask for wealth or fame
For worldly goods or easy gain
I humbly ask Dear Lord that thou
Wilt keep them close to Thee.
Amen!
